RUBiS Donates A Technology Room to Ashley’s Learning Center
In keeping with RUBiS’ corporate social responsibility, RUBiS Turks & Caicos Limited graciously donated a Technology Room to Ashley’s Learning Center, a school for special needs children. The $7,000 technology room will play an instrumental role in assisting these children reach their full potential especially in a Covid-19 environment.
The technology room for Ashley’s Learning Center has been on the school’s wish list for the past 3-4 years. Seeing it come to fruition, Angela Valerio, Owner of Ashley’s Learning Center, said “I am grateful.” Grateful was theme for her opening remarks at the ribbon cutting ceremony held in May. Both Hon. Rachel Taylor Minister of Education, Labour & Employment and Hon. Randy Howell, in place for Hon. Samuel Been Elected Member of Cheshire Hall Richmond Hill shared her sediments during the ceremony.
Hon. Taylor further thanked RUBiS for the true partnership and mentioned “prior to leaving Provo’s Children’s Home, RUBiS too was instrumental in providing free gas for an extended period of time…that made so much difference in an effort for us to transport our children.” “One thing I realized with RUBiS is that they continue to attach themselves with the most vulnerable in our communities and that is what makes the difference.”
Ashley’s Learning Center caters to 20 special needs children ranging from ages 7-18 years. These children may be autistic, visually, or physically impaired, nonverbal or have down syndrome. Nevertheless, they too need access to the best education in which Ashely’s Learning Center aims to provide with one on one tailored sessions in their program.
Latia Duncombe, former RUBiS Sales & Marketing Manager, said “when I first entered the center, I was astonished. They paid so much attention to detail and that is required when interacting with our children. We too are grateful that we, RUBiS and its employees had an opportunity to assist in making a difference in the lives of these children. Ashley’s story is encouraging and a testament of what can become of these individuals.”
